Business Challenges
  • High Labor Costs

    Campuses are large and buildings often remote, and security guards are required at all points of entry and exit, including basements. The costs incurred are high.

  • High Security Risk

    Someone could use a photo of an authorized member of staff at a facial recognition turnstile or access control device to break in to the campus.

  • Difficult Unified Management

    Campuses often use turnstiles and access control devices that are supplied by different vendors. This means that neither the solution architectures nor the interfaces are uniform. As a result, management and maintenance become increasingly difficult.

Solution Architectures

Description

The turnstiles and access control devices in a campus capture and collect human faces in real time, invoking HUAWEI CLOUD EI's facial retrieval interface to determine whether access should be granted. Once the member of staff enters, the access record is reported to the cloud. The turnstiles and access control devices also all have a QR code, which people can use to access the campus even when the local network is down. The cloud platform pushes the application image of the device management service to the edge computing nodes of the campus to ensure that devices can be managed remotely.

Functions
  • Facial Recognition Cloud Service
    A facial image library can store a maximum of 200,000 images. Searching for a face image takes less than 200 ms, granting staff entry in no time at all.
  • QR Code Service
    Standard RESTful APIs can be invoked to generate encrypted QR codes. Turnstiles and access control devices can then decrypt the QR codes, guaranteeing entry even in the event of network disconnections.
  • Local Management Integration
    Intelligent EdgeFabric provides device management interfaces for local edge computing nodes. Users' local management systems can quickly integrate the interfaces to manage devices locally.
