Fire Emergency Response

To help deal with fire emergencies on campuses, HUAWEI CLOUD has provided this quick-response solution that integrates a chain of systems that prevent emergencies from becoming disasters.
Business Challenges
  • Inefficient Emergency Response

Traditionally, communications around fire emergencies are done through phone calls, and a lot of valuable assets are lost to the inefficient procedure and slow response.

  • Absence of an Incident-Ready Platform

Incident handling relys solely on individual capabilities. A platform with built-in contingency plans is required for systematic scheduling.

  • Lack of Linkage Between Subsystems

The fire control system is not connected to the video surveillance, access control, callout, and notification systems to speed-up emergency response.

Solution Architectures

Description

The IoT gateway provided by partners is deployed on the edge computing node of the campus. The IoT gateway converts data transmitted over proprietary protocols to MQTT data and reports it to ROMA on the cloud. Cloud Stream Service (CS) obtains the reported data, generates an alarm, and writes the alarm to ROMA. IOC subscribes to the alarm in real time. The emergency response team starts the predefined contingency plan through the IOC, which quickly interworks with subsystems to handle the incident.

Highlights

  • Good compatibility: The IoT gateway deployed on the edge computing node quickly converts data transmitted over various proprietary protocols into MQTT data, enabling quick transmission of data from the fire detector to the IOC.
  • One-click start for Standard Operating Processes (SOPs): The emergency handling team can start SOPs in just a few clicks through the IOC, which quickly interworks with subsystems to respond to incidents.
  • Interworking in the event of an emergency: The Smart Campus solution provides the IOC, enabling quick response to incidents and interworking between services.
Solution Advantages
  • Responsive

Respond to fire incidents in just a few clicks, preventing incidents from becoming disasters.

  • Incident-Ready

Customize SOPs in the IOC and instantly start the pre-defined plans to efficiently invoke subsystems.

  • Compatible

Accept data reported by different detectors and encoded per different protocols.

Functions
  • ROMA
Converts data from different fire detector brands and models into MQTT data and interworks with Cloud Stream Service (CS) to analyze alarms in real time.
  • IOC
Provides comprehensive SOPs for fire incidents, supports customized contingency plans, and quickly interworks with service subsystems to enable one-click start and quick scheduling of SOPs.
  • aPaaS
Application Platform as a Service (aPaaS) provides theme library models and specialized libraries which can be customized based on the requirements of upper-layer applications. Allows data asset management and visualized metadata and data quality management.
