About Turbo
Wuhan Turbo Technologies Corporation, founded in 2012, is located in Wuhan East Lake High-Tech Industrial Zone. It is a high-tech company focusing on wireless IoT research and development.
Founded by experienced entrepreneurs and PhD students studying in the United States, Turbo has strong base to develop its brand. This is demonstrated by the company's cutting-edge R&D in wireless communications, microwave RF, chip design, and software development.
The company's industry-leading wireless IoT products and solutions have been put into large-scale commercial use in industries such as smart firefighting, smart parking, smart city, smart community, and smart transportation. The company puts people first, providing employees with an ideal workspace to propel the company into the future. The company also prioritizes customers, ensuring that every product and service meets strict quality standards.
Challenges
Firefighting is vital worldwide and is universally appreciated. Throughout history, fires have claimed countless lives, and our modern, high-tech lives are not immune from these tragedies. Despite laudable efforts to avoid these disasters, traditional firefighting systems have many problems:
- Firefighting facilities are deficient.
- Reconstructing the firefighting system is difficult.
- People lack firefighting awareness.
- Managing the firefighting system is difficult.
- The penetration rate of fire alarms is low.
Why HUAWEI CLOUD IoT
NB-IoT boasts significant advantages:
- Wide coverage
The operator is responsible for network construction, achieving city-level coverage (20 dB better than GSM) and excellent indoor coverage.
- Ultra-Low power consumption
The system has μA-level hibernation current, mA-level transmit and receive current, and batteries with life of more than 5 years. Terminals are wireless, making them easy to install and maintain.
- Massive connections
The system can connect to 50K terminals per cell. Terminals are deployed as required and there is no need to consider network capacity.
- Low cost
Users do not need to deploy base stations, making system construction highly cost-effective. Being battery-powered and featuring wireless communication, construction is simple.
Solution
The innovative application of firefighting IoT is developed using the latest NB-IoT technology. It consists of a sensing terminal and a firefighting platform, and is mainly used in old buildings and small and micro sites to solve the problems of firefighting reconstruction; firefighting facility adding; and the deployment, management, and maintenance of fire alarms. The NB-IoT wireless smart firefighting solution consists of four layers: intelligent detection, WAN, IoT cloud platform, and industry application platform.
- The intelligent detection layer consists of various fire detectors, alarm devices, and data collection devices. It detects fires and device information in real time. The fire detection terminal provides automatic alarm, automatic warning, manual alarm, linked alarm, and other monitoring functions, covering diverse situations. In addition, these devices provide comprehensive monitoring functions, such as dismantling prevention; detection of faults, low battery, dust, and incorrect battery connection; and device self-check. These lay a solid foundation for intelligent O&M.
- The WAN layer is an operator's NB-IoT network, implementing bidirectional wireless transmission of data and control signals. The entire wireless network is provided by the operator, requiring no end user construction.
- The platform layer is an IoT connection, management, and development platform. It uses Huawei OceanConnect to provide device connections in lower layers and cloud services in upper layers. Its functions include device management, access management, application development, and service analysis. It is the convergence center of devices, data, and applications.
- The application layer is an industry-oriented firefighting service platform. It provides location management, device management, event management, alarm link function and link management, and system management for end users, management personnel, and firefighters. It also pushes alarm information to relevant personnel, provides GIS-based location management for firefighters, and provides device monitoring and management functions for facility management personnel.

Benefits
Through the joint solution, Turbo and HUAWEI CLOUD built a new model for smart firefighting. Turbo leverages the cloud computing capabilities of HUAWEI CLOUD OceanConnect platform to aggregate and process massive data, improving management efficiency. The firefighting system receives fire alarms anytime, anywhere, and centrally monitors and manages devices, greatly reducing firefighting costs. Devices are powered by batteries and connected wirelessly with wide coverage, requiring no cabling. The platform is deployed on the cloud. The smart firefighting system applies to schools, communities, and homes for the elderly. It provides early fire warning and multiple alarm notification methods to avoid casualties and losses caused by fires.
