Challenges

Challenges

The rapid growth of the business has created some pain points for LCS, such as ineffective utilization of resource and scalability challenges due to fixed resources, unpredictable billing because of sudden specification change requirements, low team productivity since they are occupied to handle above issues, and a big surface for potential issues or downtime due to traditional monolithic architecture and low security implementation.

Solutions

To address these challenges, LCS turned to intelligent digital transformation by restructuring their e-commerce platform, aiming to optimize operations, reduce costs, and improve efficiency and security.

Better Performance

Better Performance

  • This restructuring was accomplished with Huawei Cloud and their strong partner ecosystem, transforming monolithic platforms to ones based on microservices. Using Huawei Cloud’s Cloud Container Engine (CCE), Relational Database Service (RDS), and strong compute based on Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors, they solved scalability, efficiency, security issues due to which system can handle 10,000 requests per minute, which is 35% higher than before. Now, LCS sees a 40% improvement in latency by hosting their services in the nearest Huawei Cloud Region, a 35% lower TCO due to the microservice architecture and auto scaling, doubled reliability thanks to multi-AZ deployment and regular backups through Huawei’s Cloud Backup & Recovery (CBR). Furthermore, the backup feature of RDS eliminates the need for having to purchase another service for backup logs of databases.

Seamless Migration

Seamless Migration

  • One of the biggest advantages was seamless data migration through Huawei Cloud's Data Replication Service (DRS), a dedicated tool to migrate databases to the cloud with zero downtime. DRS supports migration between homogenous, heterogeneous, and distributed databases. With DRS, customers can integrate and transmit data from and to databases, database warehouses, or various big data services in seconds, giving them a solid foundation for digital transformation.

One-Stop Platform

One-Stop Platform

  • Monitoring capabilities of Huawei Cloud such as Cloud Eye, Application Operations Management (AOM) acted as a one-stop observability analysis platform that monitors metrics, traces, logs, and events for fast O&M.

Local Support

Local Support

  • Another key point in ensuring success was Huawei's local presence in Pakistan with dedicated and experienced cloud team as well as prompt online support.
