Challenges
Challenges
1.Legacy Systems and Aging Hardware: PAMA’s legacy operating systems and hardware had become outdated, resulting in frequent failures and performance degradation. The old infrastructure was no longer reliable, causing increased maintenance efforts and downtimes, which disrupted daily operations and hindered business growth.
2. Business Availability Requirements: With IT playing a crucial role in PAMA’s 24/7 mining operations, ensuring continuous system availability is essential. However, their existing on-premise infrastructure lacked a robust Disaster Recovery (DR) solution, putting the business at risk in the event of hardware failures or other incidents. As a result, PAMA needed to implement a comprehensive DR plan to safeguard business continuity.
3. High Disaster Recovery (DR) Demands: To meet the strict business continuity standards, PAMA required a DR solution capable of ensuring an RPO (Recovery Point Objective) of 3x24 hours in normal condition and 1x24 hour for critical condition application. Moreover, the database workload should have RPO near-real time capabilities. This solution also needed to support seamless switchover and switchback capabilities, allowing the cloud to serve as the primary environment in emergencies, and revert to a secondary role once operations stabilize without compromising the system’s functionality.
Why Huawei Cloud?
Why Huawei Cloud?
Business Availability
Huawei Cloud’s Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) solution ensures PAMA’s high-availability IT environment with a robust local cloud infrastructure. By deploying three Availability Zones (AZs) in Indonesia, Huawei Cloud delivers high-speed, low-latency performance, ensuring uninterrupted 24/7 operations and meeting critical business continuity goals.
End-to-End Solution
Huawei Cloud’s extensive ecosystem and close collaboration with partners provide PAMA with tailored, end-to-end services, including disaster recovery planning, infrastructure design, and ongoing operations management.
Cost Optimization
By leveraging Huawei Cloud’s on-demand resource allocation, PAMA avoids upfront investments in hardware. This cost-effective approach reduces long-term capital expenditure and optimizes operational costs during critical processes.

Simplified Deployment
Huawei Cloud’s system enables one-click deployment via the console without host restarts or complex configurations, ensuring seamless system management. Its near real-time replication and failover capabilities minimize disruptions during switchover processes.

Cost-Effective Solution
The active-active disaster recovery and active-passive application setup optimize resources and reduce costs. The system remains idle during normal operations, conserving resources, avoiding licensing fees, and enhancing cost efficiency.

Enhanced Business Continuity
Huawei Cloud ensures near real-time replication and failover with minimal downtime, guaranteeing PAMA’s 24/7 operations. The solution meets RPO targets (1x24 hours for critical systems, 3x24 hours for normal systems) and an RTO target of 24 hours, delivering reliable and robust disaster recovery.
