Bosch and HUAWEI CLOUD Band Together to Connect the World

At HUAWEI CONNECT 2018, Bosch Software Innovations and HUAWEI CLOUD announced that they had reached a partnership agreement to accelerate the development of the Internet of Things (IoT) in the Chinese market. According to the agreement, Bosch IoT Suite services will be delivered to Chinese customers through HUAWEI CLOUD. The service content for the first phase of the cooperation was released in October 2018. Bosch IoT Remote Manager is now available on the HUAWEI CLOUD website. This service can be used to manage and control various gateways, sensors, and devices. Other related Bosch IoT Suite services will be launched in 2019.

Shared Ambition: Providing Superior Tech Through Open Ecosystems

Bosch selected Huawei as its cloud partner in China because the two companies have a lot in common.

First of all, Huawei and Bosch develop leading solutions in their respective fields.

HUAWEI CLOUD has invested heavily in cloud computing and big data. The cloud brand has established numerous R&D and innovation centers. Huawei works with top scientific research institutions to improve the capabilities and core competitiveness of its public cloud, Artificial Intelligence (AI), big data, and architecture offerings. All of these enable Huawei to build an innovative and highly reliable cloud platform. Bosch has been active in the IoT field, having accumulated rich expertise over the last decade. An executive from Bosch commented: "With our expertise in specific fields, know-how in software, and understanding of what organizations need, Bosch Software Innovations has become a thought leader and helped many enterprises carry out their digital transformation. Our product, the Bosch IoT Suite, has been honored repeated times, like the Top Asia-Pacific Industrial IoT Platform released by Frost & Sullivan in 2016/2017. We are the leader in providing the various functions required to connect devices, users, and businesses."

Apart from the recognized excellence in technology, another shared trait is that both companies believe that IoT technologies need to be built on industry standards and open source technologies. Huawei and Bosch share a common vision in this regard.

Huawei adheres to openness and cooperation, actively participates in open source efforts, and donates plenty of research to the community. In addition, it has established more than ten OpenLab centers around the world. Huawei actively cooperates with customers and partners in building an open ecosystem. Similarly, Bosch Software Innovations believes that no one can achieve IoT alone; companies can achieve success only through cooperation in the ecosystem. In addition, the Bosch IoT Suite is based on open source and open standards, providing users with greater flexibility and higher levels of compatibility. Both companies are members of the Eclipse IoT Community and taking leading roles in the Open Services Gateway Initiative (OSGi) Alliance that defines globally recognized IoT standards.

In addition, the two companies are committed to building robust IoT ecosystems for automotive, home, urban management, and agriculture.

The cooperation lays a solid foundation for Bosch Software Innovations to further develop in the Chinese market. One executive commented: "We are excited to have Bosch working with HUAWEI CLOUD to provide top IoT solutions for Chinese customers."

The Journey Begins with the First Step

Bosch regards China as an important IoT market. As a powerful local partner, Huawei has the capability to support Bosch's efforts in bringing its IoT platform to the country.

The first success case for Bosch and HUAWEI CLOUD was in automotive. A leading Chinese automaker elected to use the Bosch IoT Suite powered on HUAWEI CLOUD. Bosch provides Firmware over the Air (FOTA) for customer vehicles. In the next few years, millions of vehicles will be connected in China.

Through this cooperation, the Bosch IoT Suite powered on HUAWEI CLOUD will provide important services like management solutions for vehicles sold to the largest car-purchasing base in the world. The vehicle management solution implements interconnection between vehicles throughout the service period and provides reliable and secure technical assurance from such cloud services as predictive diagnosis and FOTA. The software ensures secure communication between vehicles, clouds, and services. Data management helps vehicle manufacturers and fleet managers better plan and analyze their data and ensure smooth updating of vehicle software over air.

Delivering Top-Rated Device Management Software over HUAWEI CLOUD

IoT has two tasks: to manage data generated from things and data-driven applications, and to manage the things themselves. Although IoT application management gets more attention than IoT device management, device management is the basis of any IoT deployment.

Overlooking the importance of device management deployments in IoT may seriously affect the efficiency and cycle of the entire project. All too often, companies pay too much attention to the data collection and analysis parts of the project while forgetting that if faults occur at the device edge, there will be no data to collect. IoT devices need to be configured, monitored, and updated to ensure stable and secure data transmission. In addition, due to the number and geographical distribution of edge devices in IoT projects, these processes must be carried out remotely, making the performance of the 'over air' components essential to project success. These considerations are precisely why Bosch and Huawei selected device management as the first service for launch in the Bosch IoT Suite powered on HUAWEI CLOUD.

Bosch IoT Remote Manager provides complete functionality to allow enterprise customers to easily connect, manage, control, and update devices without the need for manual operation. The Bosch IoT Remote Manager has been fully vetted in a range of application use cases, including Smart Home, Smart Building, and Connected Vehicle. Customers worldwide can attest to the impressive device management functions of the Bosch IoT Suite, fully demonstrating the viability of the Bosch Remote Manager in meeting the diverse device management requirements.

Many industry experts believe that Bosch's device management offerings are the best in the IoT platform market. In the report I4.0/IoT Vendor Benchmark 2017, Experton Group, a well-recognized market information and research firm, affirmed that the USP of the Bosch IoT Suite has unmatched comprehensive device management functions.

In 2018, as part of CXP PAC's analysis, 18 companies in the device management/IoT platform domain in the European market were analyzed. Four companies were rated as best in class, and the Bosch IoT Suite won the award for the second consecutive year.

Powering the Bosch software on HUAWEI CLOUD allows Chinese customers to benefit from the impressive functions. Find out what the Bosch IoT Suite can do for your organization. Sign up for a trial at: https://www.huaweicloud.com/en-us/solution/bosch-iot-suite/.
