Gartner Recognizes Huawei as a Mainstream Cloud Service Player

Apr 08, 2018

In its Market Guide for Cloud Infrastructure as a Service, China report published in March 2018, Gartner lists Huawei as one of the leading hyperscale IaaS cloud providers owing to HUAWEI CLOUD's full-stack capabilities.

The report provides vital insight for infrastructure & operations leaders in selecting hyperscale IaaS cloud providers. Only cloud providers who deliver high-quality cloud services that meet requirements in all four areas of the cloud spectrum are designated as hyperscale IaaS cloud providers. These areas are Cloud-Enabling, Cloud-Inspired, Pure Cloud, and Cloud-Enhanced. Typically, smaller cloud providers meet requirements in only two or three areas.

Huawei's recognition as a mainstream player in China's cloud service market is due to the fact that Huawei provides cloud services based on unified platforms and delivers public, industry, and campus clouds to achieve full market coverage.

Huawei leverages its extensive R&D experience to implement full-stack optimization and develop hardware- and software-based computing, storage, and network services that meet the requirements of enterprise cloud customers. HUAWEI CLOUD delivers unified architectures, APIs, services, and ecosystems, facilitating multiple cloud business models that provide customers with unparalleled flexibility.

l  For the on-premises scenario, HUAWEI CLOUD utilizes Huawei SD-WAN capabilities to provide intelligent, cloud-based private lines that connect enterprises' local data centers to HUAWEI CLOUD, enabling high-speed internal and external communications and meeting the requirements of traditional and innovative enterprise services.

l  For the campus/industry cloud scenario, Huawei's Dedicated Cloud (DeC) solution provides Bare Metal Servers (BMSs) and physically isolated Dedicated Storage Service (DSS) to ensure comprehensive data security and compliance on the cloud.

l  For scenarios involving large-scale public cloud services, HUAWEI CLOUD's Object Storage Service (OBS) stores and manages hundreds of billions of files, including extremely large files. Elastic Load Balance (ELB) supports hundreds of millions of concurrent requests and active-active availability zones, meeting public cloud requirements for ultra-high elastic scalability and reliability.

l  For scenarios involving large-scale migration of services to the cloud, HUAWEI CLOUD's FPGA FP1-type Elastic Cloud Servers (ECSs) provide seven times more encoding channels than regular ECSs, significantly accelerating video encoding and decoding. In addition, in AI deep learning scenarios, HUAWEI CLOUD's GPU P1-type ECSs improve computing performance by over 40% when compared to regular ECSs. The GPU P1-type ECS was awarded the "Performance Excellence Award" at the recently held China High Performance Cloud Computing Innovation Contest.

HUAWEI CLOUD leverages full-stack capabilities to provide reliable and secure cloud services capable of sustainable evolution, enabling business transformation and innovation while maximizing value for customers and partners.
