Huawei Hybrid Cloud Disaster Recovery and Backup Solution Dazzles Cloud Tour

Aug 10, 2018

Mr. Zheng Yelai, president of Huawei Cloud BU, delivered an opening speech during the third stop on HUAWEI CLOUD China Tour 2018 (a series of activities held in eight cities). During this leg in Beijing, Mr. Jia Yongli, general manager of Huawei Cloud EI PDU, delivered a keynote speech on HUAWEI CLOUD development and reflections on HUAWEI CLOUD EI in the AI area. Huawei's Hybrid Cloud Disaster Recovery and Backup solution also made its debut at the event.

During his speech, Mr. Zheng Yelai talked about all the revamping on IT infrastructure that is taking place as organizations gear into the need for big data and artificial intelligence and the ensuing massive volume and intense velocity of data that must be processed by highly specialized hardware. He also touched on the moves into cloud infrastructure 2.0. In this new era, HUAWEI CLOUD provides stable, secure, highly reliable, and ever-evolving cloud infrastructures to suit the broad and particular needs of customers as they innovate in the new era. HUAWEI CLOUD has proven itself as a viable platform that helps customers gain more while paying less.

With its proven practices in computing, storage and network over several decades of industry vetting and its end-to-end optimization capabilities made possible with its homegrown algorithms, chips, software and hardware, HUAWEI CLOUD is uniquely positioned to provide for the entire context of customer needs in providing unmatched cloud infrastructure services.

Established just one year ago, HUAWEI CLOUD has seen its year-on-year revenue increase sevenfold and number of partners increase by 45% in the first half of 2018, and 872 applications have been added to the HUAWEI CLOUD Marketplace in that short time as well. The rapid growth has turned many heads as more and more public agencies, organizations, and private enterprises are trusting their cloud-agile operations and storage to HUAWEI CLOUD, and their feedback has been positive across the board.

Today, HUAWEI CLOUD is a top-ranked player in China's public cloud market. Why? The cloud arm focuses each effort on providing "Leading-Edge, Future-Ready, Industry-Vetted" solutions and services. Leading-Edge: Huawei has been engaged in the R&D and manufacturer of cutting-edge technologies for decades now with a proven track record of stability, so having the leading-edge technology, solutions, service know-how, and everything else needed to create a superior cloud profile is in its genes. Future-Ready: Huawei's offerings are constantly updating and its portfolio is filled with future-proof tech to fulfill immediate and eventual needs of organizations of all sizes as they grow with HUAWEI CLOUD. Industry-Vetted: Huawei places the highest premium on trust and therefore has enacted the strictest privacy and data security policies, promising to not touch your data.

For service systems, security and stability are always the top priority. Traditional geo-redundant DR profiles often comprising two sites and three data centers in a single cloud ensure rapid restoration of services during downed events at one or even multiple locations. However, these types of profiles cannot be used to handle service interruptions caused by system errors. Therefore, the multi-cloud backup and on-cloud DR model will become the focus in the cloud computing context to ensure zero service interruptions.

As the first-ever hybrid cloud disaster recovery and backup solution in China, Huawei's Multi-Cloud provides a whole set of disaster recovery and backup solutions on the public cloud and covers three scenarios: cross-cloud backup, cross-cloud DR, and on-cloud DR.

The Hybrid Cloud Disaster Recovery and Backup solution provides customers with multi-cloud and cross-cloud DR and backup capabilities with support for comprehensive data protection policies. It guarantees service continuity and keeps critical data secure with high reliability built into the solution level.

During the event, Mr. Jia Yongli shared some of the more specialized services available in HUAWEI CLOUD, including Bare Metal Server (BMS) and Dedicated Distributed Storage Service (DSS) that provide on-cloud backup and DR with minimum costs while keeping the resources isolated in a private-cloud like environment.

BMS provides dedicated physical servers in single-tenant environments. It provides excellent computing performance and data security for core databases, key application systems, and high performance computing. It also offers the high scalability of a cloud-based service. You can buy BMSs directly or in a DeC to suit the particular needs of your layout.

DSS provides you with dedicated, physical storage resources. By flexibly interconnecting with various computing services (such as ECS, BMS, and DCC), DSS offers first-class performance for wide-range of scenarios, including, HPC, OLAP, and hybrid loads.
