Huawei Cloud got full marks in eight items, ranking top in the IDC TechAssessment Lake Warehouse Integrated Data Platform Technical Capability Assessment Report 2023 released by International Data Corporation (IDC), a premier global provider of IT market research and consulting services.

In this report, IDC evaluates 10 typical vendors in China in aspects of the technical and business capabilities of their lakehouse platforms. Technical capabilities include data management, data storage, data development, and data security capabilities. Business capabilities are evaluated based on the main industries served by vendors, ecosystems, and engineering implementation.

With the leading FusionInsight lakehouse integration architecture and extensive industry practices, Huawei Cloud won full scores in technical capability items and leading scores in business capability items. Huawei Cloud serves customers in five industries, including government institutions, finance, and telecom, the widest coverage among all the evaluated vendors. All these make Huawei Cloud win full marks in eight items.

Industry-leading Position Consolidated by Continuous Innovation and Accumulation

Technical capabilities won full marks thanks to long-term innovation and accumulation. With years of R&D investment, Huawei Cloud became the first to propose the "lakehouse integration" architecture in 2020. All data can be stored in a lake and processed layer by layer, and a single copy of data can support the workloads of multiple services. This architecture was first used in large state-owned banks and joint-stock banks. The Huawei Cloud lakehouse integration architecture is built based on the Huawei Cloud FusionInsight intelligent data lake solution. It provides more than 60,000 MapReduce Service (MRS) cloud-native data lakes, helping customers evolve from traditional big data and data warehouse solutions to a layered solution of "One lake + Diverse marts + Data intelligence". With a single copy of data, customers can enjoy Huawei Cloud GaussDB(DWS), a high-performance cloud data warehouse; Graph Engine Service (GES), an engine supporting trillion-edge analysis; Trusted Intelligent Computing Service (TICS); and Data Lake Insight (DLI) that enables serverless computing and auto scaling.

With Extensive Industry Experience, FusionInsight Becomes the Preferred Choice for Enterprises

FusionInsight has become a common choice for large-scale institutions and enterprises with its leading technical capabilities, deep understanding in industries, and the Huawei Cloud Stack cloud base.

In the financial field, one of the largest banks in China used Huawei Cloud FusionInsight to establish a unified data lake for their entire bank. The modern lakehouse architecture was used for modeling, with the efficiency far higher than the traditional data warehouse architecture. The largest data lake of bank now supports more than 2,000 nodes, where over 300 big data applications are running and more than 300,000 batch computing tasks are handled per day.

Carriers are deeply engaging in big data applications with fast-developing mobile Internet and IoT technologies. Based on the Huawei Cloud FusionInsight intelligent data lake, one of the major carriers in China worked with government and enterprise customers to develop a series of benchmark applications, including smart grid, smart transportation, smart port, and HD video, to support internal services and empower external applications, building a big data platform that serves more than 130 million mobile users.

In the e-government field, Huawei Cloud worked with a leading big data company in China to build a big data governance solution based on FusionInsight. Huawei Cloud provided computing power to process massive amounts of data, and fine-tuned algorithms based on data governance models for unified network management, unified network office, unified dashboard, and more scenarios. E-government data matching, form filling, proof issuing, check, approval, review, and response were all automated. The big data technology was used to horizontally expand the service scope, connecting cross-department and cross-level services to facilitate data sharing, reduce workloads, and improve efficiency.

Ecosystem development is also an important evaluation item in the report. Huawei Cloud FusionInsight promotes openness and collaboration and implements the "Platform + Ecosystem" strategy. So far, it has more than 800 partners around the world working together to serve thousands of industries.

Huawei Cloud FusionInsight has served more than 3,500 customers worldwide and deployed more than 400,000 nodes. Its largest cluster has more than 10,000 nodes, and a cluster can store more than 700 PB data. Huawei Cloud has worked with more than 800 partners to help customers accelerate digital transformation and intelligent upgrade.
