GST increase with effect from 1 January 2024 in Singapore

Dec 18, 2023 GMT+08:00

Dear customer,

As announced by the Minister of Finance in the Singapore Budget 2022, the GST rates for Singapore has been increased from 7% to 8% with effect from January 1, 2023, and will be increased from 8% to 9% with effect from January 1, 2024. Singapore Sparkoo and Huawei Services (hereinafter referred to as "we") are both GST-registered entities in Singapore, and are therefore affected by the GST rate change.

To prepare for the upcoming GST rate increase on January 1, 2024, we have commenced preparing for the transitional period, based on the guidelines published by the IRAS in the GST e-Tax Guide "2024 GST Rate Change: A Guide for GST-registered Businesses (Second Edition)".

In order to ensure a smooth transition and minimize the disruptions to our business operations, we have prepared the following proposed approaches to be adopted by Singapore Sparkoo and Huawei Services in respect of the transitional period, based on the above guidelines:

I. All invoices issued by Singapore Sparkoo to its customers (including GST-registered and non-GST registered customers) in Singapore after January 1, 2024 shall be subject to 9% GST;

II. All invoices issued by Huawei Services to non-GST registered customers in Singapore after January 1, 2024 shall be subject to 9% GST.

All GST collected from Singapore customers will be paid to the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (which is the tax authority in Singapore). We will issue invoices that reflect GST to you, and the relevant tax amount will also appear in your Billing Center.
