Notification on SMN SMS Messages Be Billed Based on Actual Number of Messages Sent (Latin America)
May 29, 2024 GMT+08:00
Dear HUAWEI CLOUD Customers,
Thank you for using Simple Message Notification (SMN) to send SMS messages. Currently, an SMS containing more than 160 characters in English or more than 70 characters in any other language is split into multiple messages, but it is still billed as one message. Starting soon, Huawei Cloud will charge an SMS message based on the actual number of messages sent. For details, see Billing.
The table below shows when the update will be applied in each region.

After the updates, your SMS message expenditures may increase.
To control your SMS message costs on SMN, you can perform the following operations:
1. Check and delete unnecessary subscription endpoints configured in each SMN topic.
2. On the Cloud Eye console, disable unnecessary alarm notifications in existing alarm rules or disable Alarm Notification when you create or modify alarm rules.
3. On the Application Operations Management (AOM) console, delete unnecessary alarm action rules or disable Action Rule when you create alarm rules.
4. Try to limit each SMS message to a maximum of 160 characters in English and 70 characters in any other language, or you can choose the more cost-effective option, SMN email messages ($2.00 USD per 1,000 emails).
If you no longer need SMN, you can delete subscriptions to avoid incurring unnecessary fees.
If you have any questions, please submit a service ticket.
Thank you for using Huawei Cloud.
