Can I Use an Encrypted Password to Log In to an RDS for MariaDB Instance? No. When you log in to an RDS instance, use the password set on the console for authentication. Encrypted password authentication is not supported. Parent topic: Product Consulting
To prevent any potential data breaches, you are advised to use SSL to encrypt data transmitted on the Internet. For details, see Configuring an SSL Connection. You can also use Direct Connect or VPN to encrypt data transmission. Parent topic: Network Security
For security reasons, you are advised to download the SSL certificate to encrypt the connection. SSL is disabled by default for RDS for MariaDB instances. You can enable SSL by referring to Configuring an SSL Connection.
Transmission Encryption RDS uses Transport Layer Security (TLS) and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) to encrypt transmission. You can download a Certificate Agency (CA) certificate from the RDS console and upload it when connecting to a database for authentication.
