All the RDS full and incremental backups are stored on OBS without occupying the storage of your DB instances. RDS provides free backup space of the same size as your purchased storage. The lifecycle of automated backups is the same as that of the DB instance.

Object Storage Service (OBS) Stores automated and manual backups of your RDS DB instances. Cloud Eye Monitors RDS resources in real time and reports alarms and warnings promptly.
When you enter the time point that you want to restore the DB instance to, RDS downloads the most recent full backup file from OBS to the DB instance. Then, incremental backups are also restored to the specified point in time on the DB instance.

When you restore an instance to a point in time, the most recent full backup will be downloaded from OBS for restoration. After the restoration is complete, incremental backups will be replayed to the specified point in time.
