Image Creation General Creation FAQ Full-ECS Image FAQ How Can I Use a Backup to Create an EVS Disk or ECS? Is There Any Difference Between the Image Created from a CSBS/CBR Backup and That Created from an ECS?
Public services, such as Elastic Cloud Server (ECS), Elastic Volume Service (EVS), Object Storage Service (OBS), Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), Elastic IP (EIP), and Image Management Service (IMS), are shared within the same region.
Background CBR provides the backup service for EVS disks, BMSs, and ECSs. If you have created a backup for an ECS using CBR, you can use the backup to create a full-ECS image. If you use a CBR backup to create a full-ECS image, you will only be charged for the CBR backup.
After a data disk image is imported, you can use it to create EVS disks. The following figure shows the process of importing a data disk image.
How Can I Use a Backup to Create an EVS Disk or ECS? You can use CSBS backups to create ECSs and use VBS backups to create EVS disks. CSBS backups cannot be directly used to create ECSs.
Quotas can limit the number or amount of resources available to users, such as the maximum number of ECS or EVS disks that can be created. If the existing resource quota cannot meet your service requirements, you can apply for a higher quota. How Do I View My Quotas?

Features Private Image Lifecycle After you create a private image, you can use it to create cloud servers or EVS disks. You can also share the image with other tenants or replicate it to other regions. Figure 1 shows the lifecycle of a private image.
Encrypting Images Elastic Volume Service (EVS) You can create a data disk image using a data disk of an ECS. The created data disk image can be used to create other EVS disks.
Then, you can use the data disk image to create EVS disks and migrate your service data to the cloud. Background The following figure shows the process of creating a data disk image from an external image file.
When you use a full-ECS image to create an ECS, the full-ECS image is free of charge, but you will be billed for EVS disks attached to the ECS.
The recipient cannot use the image to create an ECS or EVS disk, or change the OS of an ECS. The recipient cannot reinstall the OS of the ECSs created from the shared image or create instances identical with these ECSs.
You can create a data disk image from an ECS and then use the image to create new EVS disks. This is a convenient way to migrate data from an ECS to EVS disks. You are advised to use data disk images in the following scenarios: Migrate service data on an ECS to another account.
Run the following command to check the data disks attached to the ECS: mount If the command output does not contain any EVS disk information, no EVS data disks need to be detached.
