Enable default encryption for cloud services, such as EVS, RDS, OBS, and SFS, to automatically encrypt stored data. Enable encryption for databases, such as RDS and DWS, to reduce security risks caused by database dragging and data leakage.
For example, quotes can be set to limit the number of ECS instances or EVS disks that can be created. For dynamic resources, their quotas must be considered to avoid access being affected when the quota is used up.
The costs cover the cluster resources including CCE, ECS, and EVS resources.
There are three types of storage available for you to choose from: Elastic Volume Service (EVS), Scalable File Service (SFS), and Object Storage Service (OBS). Their differences are described in the following table.
Related services and tools Huawei Cloud Optimization Advisor provides cost-based inspection to identify idle resources, such as ECSs, EIPs, EVS disks, and load balancers.
Instead, use EVS disks with HA. If local disks must be used, you are advised to use RAID to improve the availability of local disks and implement HA at the application layer. In this way, if an instance is faulty, failover is supported and services can be recovered.
ECS Reliability Functions Common Faults Parent topic: Cloud Service Reliability
Cost optimization evaluation for changing pay-per-use billing to yearly/monthly: Automatically identifies long-running resources (such as ECS, EVS, RDS, ELB, and SFS Turbo) and generates optimization recommendations and estimated savings for changing from pay-per-use to yearly/monthly
EVS and OBS use distributed storage to prevent the impacts of hardware faults with a single disk, server, or rack. RDS provides automatic data backup as well as cross-AZ and cross-region data replication and switchover.
Cloud Eye monitors metrics of IaaS services (such as ECS, EVS, OBS, VPC, ELB and AS), RDS databases, and high-availability middleware (such as DCS and DMS), and allows users to report custom metrics.
Cloud Backup and Recovery (CBR) can be used to back up ECSs, BMSs, EVS disks, SFS Turbo file systems, and file directories. Most cloud services, such as RDS, DDS, and DCS, have native backup functions. KooGallery also provides various backup software to back up data.

Cluster HA You can use a shared EVS disk to deploy an intra-AZ cluster or a mission-critical application with HA enabled. One shared EVS disk can be attached to up to 16 BMSs.

Data Backup and Restoration For persistent storage, you can use CCE to mount storage volumes created from EVS disks to a path of a container. CCE works with EVS to support snapshots. If data is lost, you can roll back the disk data to the state when a snapshot was created.
Determine data distribution: Determine where data is stored, for example, on EVS disks, databases, or OBS. Evaluate data sensitivity.
Table 1 Cloud Service Description Details Elastic Cloud Server (ECS) An ECS is a cloud server with its own vCPUs, memory, OS, and Elastic Volume Service (EVS) disks. After creating an ECS, you can use it like you would use your local PC or physical server.
