AZ See Available Zone E Elastic Volume Service Elastic Volume Service (EVS) disks are a type of virtual block storage devices that use the distributed architecture and can be elastically expanded. You can operate EVS disks online.
Data Protection EVS uses the encryption function to protect the confidentiality of static data stored on EVS disks. Table 1 EVS data protection Measure Description Reference Disk encryption 1. Empty encrypted disks can be created. 2.
Configuring Auto Mount of the EVS-based RAID Array at Server Startup Scenarios This section shows how to add RAID array information, such as the device name and UUID to the mdadm configuration file. In this case, the RAID array can be started by querying information in the configuration
Before You Start Welcome to Elastic Volume Service API Reference. Elastic Volume Service (EVS) offers scalable block storage for cloud servers.
Common Application Scenarios and Usage Instructions of SCSI EVS Disks BMSs support only SCSI EVS disks. Shared SCSI EVS disks: Shared SCSI EVS disks must be used together with a distributed file system or cluster software.
Disk Encryption EVS enables you to encrypt data on newly created disks as required. It uses the industry-standard XTS-AES-256 cryptographic algorithm and keys to encrypt EVS disks.
For details, see Backing Up EVS Disks and Creating an EVS Snapshot respectively. You have logged in to the server. For how to log in to an ECS, see Logging In to an ECS. For how to log in to a BMS, see Logging In to a BMS.

SDK Overview This document lists the SDK versions provided by Elastic Volume Service (EVS) and the addresses for obtaining the latest SDK versions. SDK List Table 1 lists the SDKs supported by EVS.
Before an EVS disk is attached, the system will call the reserveVolume EVS API to check whether the disk can be attached. If it can be attached, the system then changes the disk status to attaching to avoid conflicts with other operations. Parent topic: General
Setting an Alarm Rule Scenarios You can set alarm rules for EVS to customize the monitoring scope and notification policies and stay aware of the EVS disk statuses.
Multiple servers can access the same shared EVS disk at the same time. A shared EVS disk can be attached to a maximum of 16 servers, including ECSs or BMSs.
Currently, the capacity of an EVS disk cannot be transferred to another disk. Multiple EVS disks cannot be combined into a single, larger disk, either. Common Scenarios You want to expand the system disk capacity, but purchased a new data disk.
Identity Authentication and Access Control You can access EVS through the EVS console, APIs, or SDKs. No matter which method you choose, you actually use REST APIs to access EVS. EVS APIs support only authenticated requests.
Fault Recovery EVS offers a variety of fault recovery methods. For details, Table 1. Table 1 Fault recovery Method Description Reference EVS backup CBR provides the cloud disk backup function, which allows you to back up EVS disks while the servers are running.

An EVS system disk can be as large as 1 TiB (1,024 GiB). You can expand the capacity of a system disk to up to 1 TiB. An EVS data disk can be as large as 32 TiB (32,768 GiB).
