For details about how to purchase an ECS, see Purchasing a Custom ECS. One ECS is 4 vCPUs | 8 GB, runs Linux, and is configured with the same region, AZ, VPC, subnet, and security group as the Kafka instance.
Log in to the console, click in the upper left corner, click Elastic Cloud Server under Computing, and then create an ECS. For details about how to create an ECS, see Purchasing a Custom ECS. If you already have an available ECS, skip this step. Log in to an ECS as user root.
Buy a Linux ECS (with the same region, AZ, VPC, subnet, and security group as the Kafka instance). For details about how to purchase an ECS, see Purchasing a Custom ECS.
New specifications: In the instance list, the instance specification is displayed as the ECS flavor multiplied by the number of brokers (for example, kafka.2u4g.cluster*3 brokers). Figure 1 Instance list Notes and Constraints Unavailable for single-node instances.
Public services, such as Elastic Cloud Server (ECS), Elastic Volume Service (EVS), Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), Elastic IP (EIP), and Image Management Service (IMS), are shared within the same region. Regions are classified into universal and dedicated regions.
Procedure Buy an ECS that can communicate with the source and target clusters. For details, see the Purchasing a Custom ECS.
Symptom: Specifications fail to be increased, and a message is displayed indicating that the underlying ECS/EVS resources are insufficient. However, the required ECSs can be purchased on the ECS console.
If public access is not enabled, log in to the ECS prepared in 1 and enter the Kafka Manager address in the address bar of the browser on the ECS. Enter the username and password for logging in to Kafka Manager, which you set when creating the instance.
Resources, such as ECS and volume resources, are insufficient. Try again later. 400 DMS.00400060 This instance name already exists. The instance name already exists. Check the instance name. 400 DMS.00400061 Invalid instance ID format. Invalid instance ID.
Client Network Environment A client can access a Kafka instance in any of the following modes: If the client runs an Elastic Cloud Server (ECS) and is in the same region and VPC as the Kafka instance, the client can access the instance using a private network IP address.

Elastic Cloud Server (ECS) An ECS is a basic computing unit that consists of vCPUs, memory, OS, and EVS disks. Kafka instances run on ECSs. A broker corresponds to an ECS. Elastic Volume Service (EVS) EVS provides block storage services for ECSs.
