ECS: The default security group rule allows all outbound data packets. In this case, you do not need to configure a security group rule for the ECS.

Create a TaurusDB instance and an ECS in the same VPC and access the TaurusDB instance through the ECS. For details, see: Connecting to a DB Instance over a Private Network Parent Topic: Database Connections
Ensure that the ECS is in the same region, AZ, VPC, and security group as a TaurusDB instance. Data disks are not required. Log in to the ECS and download and install a MySQL client.

When you create an ECS, select an OS, such as Red Hat 6.6, and bind an EIP to it. Then, upload the installation package to the ECS using a remote connection tool, and use PuTTY to connect to the ECS.

Public services, such as Elastic Cloud Server (ECS), Elastic Volume Service (EVS), Object Storage Service (OBS), Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), Elastic IP (EIP), and Image Management Service (IMS), can all be shared within a given region. Regions can be universal or dedicated.
To achieve a higher transmission rate and security level, you are advised to migrate your applications to the ECS that is in the same region as the TaurusDB instance. After an EIP billed on a pay-per-use basis is unbound from a TaurusDB instance, it is still billed.
Connecting a DB instance over the private IP address If your application is deployed on an ECS that is in the same region and VPC as a DB instance, you are advised to use the private IP address of the DB instance to connect to the ECS for high security and performance.
