How Do I Enable the Password Login Mode for an ECS? How Do I Handle the Failure in Logging In to ECS After Unbinding the Key Pair? What Should I Do If My Private Key Is Lost? How Do I Convert the Format of a Private Key File? Can I Change the Key Pair of a Server?
If you have configured the public key in a Linux ECS, you can use the private key to log in to the ECS without a password. Therefore, you do not need to worry about password interception, cracking, or leakage.
Using a Key Pair Describes how to bind a key pair to an ECS, use a private key to log in to Linux ECS, and use a private key to obtain the password for logging in to Windows ECS. Managing Key Pairs Describes how to: Upgrade a private a key pair to an account key pair.

Assume you want to use a Windows ECS as the Dedicated HSM instance management node. Perform the following steps to initialize the Dedicated HSM instance: Purchase a Windows ECS as the Dedicated HSM instance management node. Log in to the management console. Click .
Public services, such as Elastic Cloud Server (ECS), Elastic Volume Service (EVS), Object Storage Service (OBS), Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), Elastic IP (EIP), and Image Management Service (IMS), are shared within the same region.
This prevents password interception and cracking, improving ECS security. When purchasing an ECS, you can choose to authenticate users trying to log in to your ECS with the SSH key pair provided by KPS, or use the key pair to obtain the password for logging in to a Windows ECS.

If the private key is lost, you can bind a key pair to the ECS again by resetting the password or key pair. For details, see How Do I Handle the Failure in Logging In to ECS After Unbinding the Key Pair?
Converting the Private Key File in the .pem Format to the .ppk Format When you use PuTTY to log in to a Linux ECS, the private key must be in the .ppk format.
The DK plaintext is only stored in the memory of the host housing the ECS and is not stored persistently on the media. If the custom key is deleted or disabled in KMS, the disk encrypted using the key can still use the DK plaintext stored in the host memory.
