Creating an ECS and a GaussDB(DWS) Cluster Creating an ECS Creating a GaussDB(DWS) Cluster Parent topic: Test Methods
Making Preparations You have purchased a Windows ECS and the Windows Server is running properly. (If the existing ECS or local PC meets the requirements, you do not need to purchase an ECS separately.) You have purchased a GaussDB(DWS) cluster.
If the ECS has a firewall, check the firewall configuration.
If an expired ECS is not renewed, it enters a grace period. If it is not renewed by the time the grace period expires, the ECS will be frozen and enter a retention period.

The cloud services used in this practice are GaussDB(DWS), Elastic Cloud Server (ECS), and Virtual Private Cloud (VPC).

(Optional) Public network bandwidth When a yearly/monthly cluster is configured with an EIP billed by bandwidth, the bandwidth is billed by the Elastic Cloud Server (ECS) service in yearly/monthly mode.

Creating an ECS Create an ECS by referring to the Elastic Cloud Server User Guide. The following table lists the created flavors. TPC-DS and TPC-H data sets occupy large space. For example, TPC-DS 1000X and TPC-H 1000X occupy 930 GB and 1100 GB, respectively.
For example, both ECS and GaussDB(DWS) are deployed in CN-Hong Kong, but ECS is in VPC 1 and GaussDB(DWS) is in VPC 2.
(Optional) Preparing an ECS as the gsql Client Server For details about how to purchase an ECS, see Purchasing an ECS in the Elastic Cloud Server Getting Started.
(Optional) Preparing an ECS as the gsql Client Server For how to purchase an ECS, see Purchasing an ECS in the Elastic Cloud Server Getting Started. The created ECS must meet the following requirements: ECS and GaussDB(DWS) clusters must belong to the same region and AZ.
The driver can connect to the database through an ECS on the Huawei Cloud platform or over the Internet. When using the JDBC driver to connect to the data warehouse cluster, determine whether to enable SSL authentication.
Using an ODBC Driver to Connect to a Database GaussDB(DWS) allows you to use an ODBC driver to connect to the database through an ECS on the Huawei Cloud platform or over the Internet. For details about how to use the ODBC API, see the official document.
To ensure network connectivity between the ECS and GaussDB(DWS), the GaussDB(DWS) cluster and ECS must be in the same region, VPC, and subnet.

Cloud SSDs are not bound to the ECS flavor. Therefore, you can adjust the flavors of cloud SSDs when needed. Local SSDs Local SSDs use ECS local disks as storage media. They have fixed capacity and higher performance but cannot be scaled out.
