Service Data Security GaussDB(DWS) is built on public cloud software infrastructure, including ECS and OBS. Both ECS and OBS won the Trusted Cloud Certification issued by the China Data Center Alliance in 2017.

If the client host connects to the data warehouse cluster using the cluster's private IP address, apply for another ECS as the client host. The ECS must be in the same VPC and subnet as the data warehouse cluster. Ping is not allowed in the security group rule.
Preparing an ECS as the GDS Server For details about how to purchase an ECS, see Purchasing an ECS in the Elastic Cloud Server Getting Started. After the purchase, log in to the ECS by referring to Logging In to a Linux ECS. The ECS OS must be supported by the GDS package.
Creating an ECS For details, see Purchasing an ECS. After purchasing an ECS, log in to the ECS by referring to Logging In to a Linux ECS. When creating an ECS, ensure that the ECS is in the same region, AZ, and VPC subnet as the stream data warehouse.
Using gsql to Connect to DWS Connecting to DWS Cluster Using gsql Go to the /opt directory of the ECS and run the environment variables. 1 2 cd /opt source gsql_env.sh Run the following command to connect to the GaussDB(DWS) database.
ECS GaussDB(DWS) uses an ECS as a cluster node. BMS GaussDB(DWS) uses a BMS as a cluster node. VPC GaussDB(DWS) uses the Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) service to provide a network topology for clusters to isolate clusters and control access.
This mode is ideal when you want more flexibility and control on ECS usage. For example, customers that require early operation tests, proof of concept, and short-term use. Parent topic: Billing Modes
GaussDB(DWS) is deployed in a dedicated ECS environment, which is not shared with any other tenant. This eliminates the possibility of data leakage caused by computing resource sharing.
For details about how to log in to an ECS, see "ECSs> Logging In to a Linux ECS > Login Using an SSH Password" in the Elastic Cloud Server User Guide.

Make sure that the ECS disk space is sufficient. Because the generated data is large, it takes a long time to import data if only one GDS is started. You are advised to generate data on two data disks evenly.
Enter a valid cluster administrator password as prompted and try again later. 400 DWS.5146 The ECS group parameter is missing. The ECS group parameters is missing. Enter a valid parameter and try again. 400 DWS.5147 Invalid ECS group parameter. Invalid ECS group parameter.

Replace the IP address with the private network IP address of ECS to ensure that DWS can communicate with GDS through this IP address. The port numbers are 5000 and 5001 for TPC-H and 5002 and 5003 for TPC-DS.

You need to create an ECS as the GDS server. The created ECS and GaussDB(DWS) must belong to the same region, VPC, and subnet. Procedure Create a table in GaussDB(DWS) to store imported data. For details, see CREATE TABLE.
To access a cluster by calling Elasticsearch APIs on the ECS that is located in the same VPC as the cluster, perform the following steps: Log in to Huawei Cloud API Explorer and choose Analytics > Data Warehouse Service. The DWS OpenAPI page is displayed.
The cloud services used in this practice include Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) and subnets, Elastic Load Balance (ELB), Elastic Cloud Server (ECS), Object Storage Service (OBS), Distributed Message Service (DMS) for Kafka, Data Lake Insight (DLI), and Data Warehouse Service (DWS).
For details about the ECS error codes and recommended actions, see How Do I Handle Error Messages Displayed on the Management Console? in the Elastic Cloud Server FAQs. You can also select another region, AZ, or node flavor to create a cluster.
